x86 (32bit) sptd conflict

I have read a littany of literature on the web regarding the numerous problems invovling sptd.sys and particular emulation software...

there is a clear solution for the 64bit users (ms hotfix 914387 removal)...

is there anything (short of massive registry edits and repeated safe boots) that xp sp2 32bit users can do right now???

Did you try to manually install the latest SPTD version (1.25)?

I am completely mystified....
...for no reason, without and user modification, everythings appears to be running normally again...

is it possible that a windows conflict was addressed in a recent update???

or even more sinister could it be an indication of my system being compromised???
