SPTD problems

XP SP2
Installation of Daemon 4.02 or Alcohol 52% fails due to SPTD errors.
Alcohol installation fails with 'internal setup error: contact support'

System log file reports:

source sptd: "Driver detected an internal error in its data strctures for ."
I have uninstalled SPTD several times. carefully following the instructions.
This error occurs every time. Also with Daemon.

I believe this is a permission problem in the registry.
I login normally as a domain user id (member of the administrator group on my local machine), so therefore install from this account. It fails (error above).

Alcohol virtual drive feature does work if
1) I change the user of the Alcohol installation using "run as..." to be another administrator user ('tim')
2) I run Alcohol using run as... as 'tim'

but this is a real nuisance.

There is no DAEMON Tools version 4.02HE. I am curious of the error message you received if you were still unable to get DAEMON Tools installed. A note about the message in the event viewer: it is a warning message only and can be IGNORED. Everything will continue to work just fine without it. It is not a permissions issue on your local system.

What is the version number of Alcohol 52% that you installed? Regarding the runas features of Alcohol- I recommend contacting them on their forum if you are a registered user or contacting them through their web form: http://support.alcohol-soft.com/en/emailsupport.php
