Smile How to remove the SPTD Key (and its subkeys) successfully

I too had a hard time in removing (and reinstalling - in this case - Daemon Tools) the SPTD driver from my win XP machine.
This procedure is based on several help/suggestion pages found on the internet.

Since I can not upload the RTF document, I have posted it here: " /file /9442fb". (remove spaces
Since this file will not stay there for ever, I'd like to ask anyone with upload rights to upload it to this site for permanent availability.

Actually there is no need to download anything, and there is no need to boot into safe mode, and delete sptd.sys. Also there is no need to use supershell.exe or any other "tools" besides regedit.
The correct SPTD key removal procedure:
1. Execute registry editor, go to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\sptd, set "Start" value to 4,
2. reboot,
3. execute registry editor again, enable all permissions of sptd\cfg key, then delete entire sptd key in Services hive,
4. reboot

In Windows 2000 you have to use regedt32.
